My ‘It’ girl.
Alison ‘Buttkicker’ had long brown hair swept down her back, no bangs. She was tall, like her brother, her legs were sheer perfection. Not a beauty, but pretty in her own way. She kept her head down, but occasionally you saw iridescent green eyes.
I found later she was almost a year older than many of us–she had been held back to start kindergarten late. Since she was on the shy side (and from poor town), some rich boys didn’t look twice. But I did……..she was a long cool drink of water in white tights. That psychedelic purple dress was something to behold.
Someone once said she had the most kissable lips in school, no doubt due to her sublime use of pink lipstick and lip gloss. However, her main ‘claim to fame’, unfortunately, was her chest.
The old saying about the one-eyed man, king of the blind fits here: in a school full of girls mostly undeveloped, the one with more developed breasts got all the looks. Her pathetic un-PC nickname was ‘Tits’. (I will abbreviate this as ‘T’ in the future).
She certainly never flaunted her body. Skirts always well above knees, but never mini-skirts like rich girls. She favored white blouses with different pastel skirt shades. And, as I said before, most girls had heels, flats, and one pair of ‘look at me’ shoes. So she got attention from us pathetic idiots as she walked halls or past a table full of immature goons. “Jesus, there goes T, will you look at that?”
When she picked up that clarinet and whetted the reed with her tongue, my heart skipped a beat.
My neighbor in band hailed from poor town; he filled me in on a few things. Her smile was always closed mouth–her braces had come off in July. Her friends were not exactly respected (blah blah, this one was ugly, that one wore glasses, etc). And from what I knew, rich girls didn’t accept her, no doubt due to her development.
Doug dropped her at school most days. This year was her first time in school without her older brother in the building.
Did she have a boyfriend?
A laugh. “Oh shit, no!! Man, she is FF.”
FF???? more next time.
